27/09/2006.

First of all let me start by congratulating both our reserve squad and under 18s for their recent performances. The reserves have continued to progress in the Staffs County Premier league with a win at home to Florence followed by a home win against Stone Doms. I had had the opportunity along with Gary Worthington to watch the game against Florence and there was some good football played at times and certain players look as though they could progress further for sure. I have asked Dave Johnson to let Gary and myself have a game update of any player whom he feels can make the step up so as to ensure progress is rewarded with the opportunity to play at a higher level if they have the desire to do so.

Gary had a look at our under 18s recently and reported on some good lads, it is a great strength to have good young players coming through and is the lifeblood of any successful team these days. So a big thank you to all the players and managers who are working so hard to develop Norton football club your hard work and commitment is very much appreciated. A 10 – 1 win against Biddulph how close can you get!! …well done guys. Well done Mark and Dave and all your lads

I understand that three of our young lads Cokey, Jako and Adam will be playing for Eccleshall in the FA Youth cup, on behalf of everyone at Norton may we wish you good fortune and congratulations, You have all earned the right to be asked to play so make sure that you ENJOY your experience and the very best of luck.

I will try hard over the next week or so to watch our under 15s again I have been informed by a colleague not connected with Norton what a good side they are. It is really rewarding to hear this from people not associated with Norton again keep up the great work and a big thank you to Phil and John for all your hard work, and of course all your players.

So on to the first team, let me assure you all on one vital area morale, who says the morale is low, not Gary, myself or the players, in fact after the last two performances against Winsford and Atherstone morale is high. At last the players are starting to feel their form coming together. Lets just consider our brief, build a team for the future of Norton FC with players that want to play for the club, who at this time are not interested in payment and can develop to become a side that will go on to be successful over the next three to five seasons.

Again I repeat myself to achieve this takes time, effort, commitment and bags and bags of hard work and support. I have noticed more positive comments appear on our guestbook and for those who have given support thank you. I fully support Mr Colcloughs comments on our site ‘’positive attitudes’’ are required from everyone connected with our club its not about individuals its about our club.

Our performances are starting to come together right now and I really hope that we can get our first win at home against Bootle on Saturday. No one connected with the first team is happy about our league position and if they were they would not be with us… believe me.

To answer a few of you who have asked ‘’why have we got two loan players in who could leave at any time’’ its quite simple really both players came to the club when were down on numbers due to injury, both have played at a higher level than North West counties two, giving us their experience and one has played in the Vauxhall conference. In the meantime we may pick up points and improve as a team because of them.

With regards to new players we are very pleased to confirm that we have just signed three new players all who have had experience in North West Counties Division one during last season They all have exactly the right attitude towards training and the required professional thinking away from the club. Richard Goodwin is a central defender, Peter Murphy a striker and Steve Roberts a midfield player. These lads are here to supplement and strengthen our existing squad and we welcome them to our club.

Away from the actual game in my last notes I asked if there was anyone out there who was interested in getting involved with us as a kit person we may well have acquired someone from outside the club but if there is anyone within please let me know as a matter of urgency.

Good luck to all our teams this week-end

Regards

Dave Dale
